that was when that hurricane ripped through miami and the nbc saturday night lineup. there was indeed a fourth comedy on saturdays that season, the torkelsons, but it was bumped from the schedule that fateful night. only the golden girls (they went long for a very special full hour), the empty nest gang and the nurses stuck it out through the forceful winds of Hurricane Gil.
yes, i've spent a disturbing amount of time today on tv trivia sites, empty nest tribute sites and google in general. can you believe that empty nest lasted SEVEN seasons, several of which found the comedy in the nielsen top ten? but then so did macgyver (last seven seasons, not hit the top ten). did you know that teri hatcher was on macgyver? neither did i. now you do.
