late morning. tea lounge. acquiring my second cup of coffee. interesting banter regarding counterfeit cash ensues between patron and staff. not sure how this started. next customer passes the ravishing brunette behind the counter a dirty, torn-up tenner. she remarks, "this looks fake." they laugh. she grabs the pen from next to the register, making a broad mark on the bill and then exclaims, "it IS fake!" i lean in for a closer look. it does look fake, all runny and such. customer proffers a non-counterfeit fiver to settle his bill, looking somewhat sheepish. must be embarrassing to be caught with fake money, whether you knew it or not.

early afternoon. phone rings. nice young woman from local consulting company responding regarding an email i had sent her about a position she had on offer. we chat for quite some time about my background and experience. she suggests moving forward quickly as her client has begun interviewing today. i relate that i am free tomorrow and we promptly arrange an interview at a mutually-agreeable time. fingers crossed.

late afternoon. completing the first book in the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series after spending a significant portion of last night enjoying the 1981 bbc series on dvd. flicking on the teevee, i notice that THUNDERBIRDS is on techtv. this is the same channel that broadcasts max headroom. awesome. there is something about the very specific look of these marionnette shows that appeals to me immensely. i observed that one of the characters, gordon, looks disturbingly like my best friend's boyfriend. puppets shouldn't look that much like real people. eerie.
