Get Your Drink On, Get Your Smoke On, Get Your Crayon
2003-09-24

this afternoon, a co-worker offered an amusing anecdote regarding a pickup line that he had been told about by his brother. have with you an ordinary box of crayons. i believe that they still come in an 8 pack. that seems the appropriate size to carry around with you at all times. ask your intended to pick their favorite color. then write your phone number down with the crayon he/she has selected. cheesy, yes? do you think such a thing could ever actually work?

this same co-worker smelled rather like the locker room in high school after gym class this morning. not the stinky, sweaty but the freshly scrubbed, soapy, deodoranty. it brought back a flood of frustrated teenage crushes and confusing obsessions like they were yesterday. oh, to be that innocent again.

today was full of back-breaking physical labor as we continue to dismantle our work space and pack up everything for storage, in preparation for our move out at the end of the month. yesterday i offered that i was considering committing a capital crime since prison labor couldn't be this rough. another co-worker one-upped me today suggesting he'd rather work in a nicaraguan nike sweatshop than do this for one more today. this being the co-worker that i had the intensely vivid sex dream about just the other night. just saying.

isn't it odd when someone tells you that you remind them of someone else, particularly if you don't know this someone else? is this reminder a good or a bad thing? it's like someone telling you that something tastes like something you've never tried. it is ostensibly information and yet it is information that you can make absolutely no use of because it has no context. finally, i decided that it probably is a good thing, because who in their right mind would tell you that you remind them of someone they DON'T like, right?
