Caffeine Conundrum
2003-05-20

several weeks ago, demoralized by corporate coffee in lower manhattan, myself and my workmates (i absolutely refuse to use the word 'colleague') decided to brew it up in-house. fair warning: i brew a mean cuppa joe.

immediately following this momentous decision, we stumbled upon the most adorable independent little coffee house, right here, smack dab in the financial district. a tiny splash of the village, the healthy dollop of soho, all below city hall. not only is the house blend yummilicious, klatch (as this haven is so wittily named) features a wide selection of pastries from balthazar.

now, i'm no foodie. never have been, never will be. but sticky buns with golden raisins? non-fat cranberry orange or 2-berry yogurt or apple granola muffins? orange brioche? pain au chocolat? simply delectable.

and besides, this is someplace i can feel good about spending my hard-earned cash. and it appears to be catching on. it is busier and busier in there every day. keep your fingers crossed.
