Strange Bedfellows
2002-10-23

for quite some time now, i've been without a bed. this has meant sleeping on my floor, which i can assure you is neither comfortable nor comforting. given my tenuous employment situation, the only way to procure such a luxury item was to turn to the parentals.

now, understand that i have lived on my own for going on fourteen years and have never, not once, asked my parents for money as an adult. in fact, i rarely asked for money as a child, working from age 14 selling newspaper subscriptions door to door to feed my cravings for all things pop cultural. so, turning to the units was a last ditch, desperation move. but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. the brand new futon mattress was delivered on sunday.

actually, i had arranged for it to be delivered between 6 and 8 p.m. around 2:30 on sunday, i received a frantic call from the delivery folks trying to ascertain whether i was home and if it was convenient from them to deliver now, since i was their only delivery. at that moment, i happened to be enjoying a bright sunny fall afternoon in central park, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. nice try, delivery folks.

unfortunately, my first night's sleep was marred by the pounding headache that developed around 9:30 on sunday night. maybe it was that pulsing techno on alias. i did sleep, but not fitfully, waking with the same headache, which persisted until about 9:30 last night, when it faded as suddenly as it had arrived. sans headache, i had one of the best night's sleep in weeks.

by the way, this is a sesquicentennial. happy 150 entries to me!
